The journey so far.....
In 2002 we had been married 10 years. During that time we had
pretty much lived life to the full, paying off the mortgage, travelling the world
and acquiring the toys we had always wanted. Yet something was still missing
- a desire to step off the treadmill and escape to the countryside. Over the
years London had changed dramatically both socially and culturally and with old
age comes intolerance. Our debut on Sky News in a headline story involving an AK47 and a clock tower
seemed to loom closer every day.
An extremely buoyant property market showed us that the sale
of a modest 3-bedroomed Edwardian terraced house with a 45ft. garden in a North London suburb would
generate sufficient capital to buy quite a sizeable chunk of real estate in
England's most rural
county, Herefordshire.
To put ourselves in the strongest position we knew we had to
be cash buyers so the decision was taken to get the money in the bank before
even looking for a new house. That day arrived in October 2002. On the basis
that location is everything we trawled the estate agents, amassed in excess of
100 sets of details on potentially suitable properties, viewed only one and
bought it!
They say you'll know "the one"
when you see it and
they are right. A full asking price offer was made and accepted and on 12th
December 2002 we took possession of our 2 acres of paradise. This website serves
as a "window on our world". We hope you like the view and are perhaps
sufficiently inspired to follow in our footsteps and chase your dreams.
